Michael Cowen (he/him/his) – Having mercifully left the proverbial stiff upper-lip behind but brought his accent with him, Michael originally hails from the UK, where he spent most of the last 20 years working as both a creative and an executive in the film industry. Informed by extensive social justice-led training at Southern California Counseling Center, Michael’s practice is grounded in a relational, strengths-based, trauma-focused approach to help create an affirming space where the parts of us expressing hope, playfulness and creativity can reemerge and healing can begin. Michael is an EMDR-trained practitioner who is passionate about working with adults, couples and teens coping with concerns relating to trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, self-esteem, sex and sexuality, gender dynamics, acculturation, and creative blocks.
